"We grew up together in a sense and transitioned into who we are now." | After graduating from Texas State University in the spring, I made sure to enjoy my last couple of weeks before starting a big girl job, in the "scary" real world. Those last days were truly incredible; I took full advantage of my surroundings, saw my truest friends like crazy and one by one crossed things off a bucket list I had created to do "one last time" before I left San Marvelous. I spent four years in one of the most beautiful college towns I have ever seen, doing incredibly beautiful things. I made sure to float the river, take part in dollar bowling nights, hike Purgatory, shop at the outlets and take day trips to New Braunfels and Gruene. I didn't forget to eat a Tap Room burger, hit up Los Cucos for $2 marg nights, make it out to the Square or miss out on the best breakfast tacos from Casa Maria after a night out with great friends. Sure these all might sound typical, but they all have one thing in common. The people that kept me company throughout each of those experiences. |
That is why my most recent adventure to the hill country was such a great experience. Sure I went back to a good amount of my favorite places, doing some of my favorite things, but what made the memories so wonderful were who I made those memories with. When I lived there, we rarely went a day without seeing each other. We constantly were exploring and enjoying what we did together, no matter what it was. My memories involve laughter and smiles when we were purely enjoying ourselves, and comfort in the times that we may have needed a shoulder to lean on. We grew up together in a sense and transitioned into who we are now. I know that each and every one of them influenced who I am today. They each have such amazing hearts and are willing to bend over backwards if need be. It felt as though we had just picked up where we left off, like no time had passed in the first place. When I started planning this mini vacation to visit, one of my friends instantly asked off for the entire weekend in order to spend the necessary time with me to enjoy life together. She was so "go with the flow" about everything that weekend that we were able to accomplish almost everything I wanted to do. Others, despite having work the next day, went out with all of us and ended up staying up for most of the night in order to catch up and take full advantage of the time I was in town. These are great examples of how they all would truly do anything for me. I guess that is why we each have such an amazing time together, even when we are doing absolutely nothing. We are all willing to be there for one another no matter the circumstance. So a big thanks to everyone who helped me out in San Marcos when I needed it the most! You really have no idea how much it has helped me grow into the person I am today. |
