We all have those days where we want to turn off our alarms and not get out of bed... for the entire day. Sometimes we just need that extra push to get started because we are feeling off about why we have to do what we have to do in the first place. Some days we wonder why we are even in this beautifully tragic world. For those days, fear not- here are a few ways that can help you overcome the world, and feel powerful doing so. |
Cross your legs, close your eyes & breathe
Meditation and yoga are great ways to relieve stress quickly and have a long term impact. Not sure where to start? Youtube is a great source for searching easy and quick ways to meditate. Hulu has awesome yoga videos for beginners, which are FREE! If you feel as though you need a quicker way to relieve this stress, without time to look up a quick how-to, then follow these 4 simple steps: 1) Go into a quiet room 2) Sit or lay on the floor 3) close your eyes and 4) breathe deeply, holding each breathe for 4 seconds on each inhale/exhale. Try sitting in the peace and quiet for at least 5 minutes. Try setting a timer so that you are not focused on the clock the entire time. The more you practice, the more you will feel comfortable doing so, as well as have more energy!
Plug in your headphones, turn on your iPod & listen
Music is a great way to get out of your mind for a little. Whether it is inspirational, the sound of the ocean or your go-to radio station, a 3 minute song is sure to turn your frown upside down. I create playlists on Spotify and iTunes that are ready just for moments like this, working out, etc. It's important to have a range of types of music, so that you can quickly find what it is you are looking for.
Get outside & walk, run or hike
Exercise is always the cure for me on any off day. If I make the time to run, I never come back without a smile on my face. It is such a great way to run off the stressors of life and anything that is bothering you. Not only do you clear your mind, you get fit doing so. Getting fresh air is a perfect chance to get closer with nature and feel like you are meant for something more. Explore, find what else there is to see and get out of your normal bubble every once in a while. You'll surprise yourself with what you discover!
Laugh, laugh & laugh
If you ask me, the best cure to feeling down about ANYTHING is to laugh it out. Call your best friend, boyfriend, mom or anyone that makes you laugh your absolute hardest. If you have the time, take an impromptu trip to visit one of these people so that you can get away from what is causing you to question who you are. Sometimes a weekend away can take care of those off feelings entirely.
